Consulting internships
Hands-on experience. Real world projects.
About the internship
Our Consulting Internship runs across eight weeks in June and July. From your first week onsite, you’ll have the chance to work on real client challenges and experience what it means to be a Newton Consultant. The program mirrors the early experience of our full-time Consultants and offers you the skills and foundational knowledge you’ll need for a successful career in consultancy.
Program information
When you join us as an intern, you’ll get hands-on and contribute to real client challenges from week one. The program lasts eight weeks across June and July and offers a salary of $90,000 annualized.
You’ll see our business from both sides of the Atlantic, as you join an induction in the UK. Here, you’ll build a similar core skillset to our full-time Consultants before returning to the US to support our clients’ work. Throughout the program, you’ll have structured support with a Line Manager and Buddy/Mentor, and weekly check-ins to help with your development.
Succeed on your internship and you may be asked to return as a full-time Consulting.
Who can apply?
You don’t need any consulting experience to apply for our consulting internship. What matters to us is your potential and skills. That said, you will need to:
The internship experience
As an intern, you’ll build the same core skillset as our entry-level Consultants.
The first two weeks will be spent onboarding in the UK at our Oxfordshire headquarters. You’ll learn the fundamentals of consulting and the Newton methodology, and you’ll get to network with your peers, Consultants and leadership.
In weeks three to eight, you’ll be back in the US where you’ll join a live project team. Your new skills will be put to the test as you map processes, analyze data and help identify ways to improve operations. Finally, you’ll close out the program at a Chicago-based Review Day, where you’ll share what you’ve learned, achieved and any recommendations for future cohorts you may have.
Throughout your time as an intern, you’ll be supported by a Line Manager and a Buddy/Mentor. You’ll also have coaching as you work on your project and take part in Reviews to check in on your progress and performance.

Our energy partners’ challenges are diverse: from upgrading essential infrastructure at pace, to building and maintaining wind farms. Our work includes building capability, redefining critical processes and embedding new operating models at speed.
We’re working with retailers to help them stay ahead of the competition, redefine their supply chain networks and build market agility and resilience. We operate globally across the retail landscape from grocery and apparel to hard goods and general merchandise.
How to thrive at Newton
Our internship offers you a taste of consulting without needing any experience. As well as the chance to make a real impact and create change on live projects, you’ll explore the culture of Newton first-hand. Here’s what will help you make the most of your time with us.

Our work is fast paced, with new challenges every day. So, we need self-starters who are ready to dive in and who can be flexible when it comes to change.

You seize opportunities and develop rapidly, navigating the highs and lows to deliver the best outcomes.
Early Career Stories
Consultant
“A large part of why I was excited to join Newton was the chance to lead US expansion. Now, I have the chance to do so in the Energy and Infrastructure sector as well. I came to Newton with a degree majoring in both Materials Science & Engineering, and Economics, so it’s great to get to work with clients in the Energy field, especially during a time of such big technological change.”
“I was consistently impressed during the interview process with the quality of people representing Newton, and I am happy to say that my early experiences working here at Newton mirror those in the interview process. I believe Newton is made up of brilliant people, which makes for an incredibly rewarding working environment.”
“My first few weeks in Induction have been a whirlwind! I’ve really enjoyed getting to meet so many new people, whether at induction, at Review Nights or just going out in London. Now, I’m headed to client site in Germany for a couple weeks before heading back to the US and I’m looking forward to continuing to learn and grow in my first project and beyond.”
“Being based in the UK for induction and meeting so many people, gave me a real appreciation for just how special this working culture is. After landing on a client site in the US, I met the client almost the moment I arrived and put what I’d learned into practice immediately. What sticks with me most is the sheer pace of growth; in the space of a few short weeks, I feel genuinely transformed into a promising consultant.”
