Why join Newton?
Know your potential. Rise to every challenge.
Discover if you have what it takes to be a successful Consultant at Newton and how we’ll support you from day one.
What we look for
We assess everyone as individuals. While each of us is unique in our own way, these are seven key skills and qualities we look for in our Consultants.
We look for people who constantly ask “why?”, dig into data and look at problems from multiple angles. You balance analytical rigor with empathy and know that change is about people as well as numbers.
You seize opportunities, adapt to new environments and push through challenges. You persevere when things get tough, learn from setbacks and keep going.
You have EQ as well as IQ. You’re aware of the differences in the world around you and show empathy and compassion. You understand your own strengths and recognize where you can improve. You give and take feedback with consideration.
Sharing skills, knowledge and working collaboratively is important to you. You know when to ask for help and when to offer it.
You inspire others and bring people together, because building supportive relationships matters to you. You enjoy simplifying complex issues and presenting them in a clear and compelling way to help others understand.
You learn and adapt quickly, and you’re always ready for more. Things move and change fast at Newton, so you’ll need to recognize your own boundaries and manage your time to deliver.
You have the appetite for being part of something new, helping Newton to grow in North America and beyond. You’ll be comfortable with ambiguity and willing to be flexible, mobile and proactive.
Development and progression
There are so many ways for you to grow and progress your career within Newton, from getting stuck into each project and challenge to learning from those around you and gaining professional qualifications.

These are the people you can lean on and connect with throughout your career when you need guidance. Review days also offer you the opportunity to work through complex client work with others from within the wider community at Newton.
When it comes to training, all North American trainee Consultant starts with a 5-week induction in the UK. This immersive program is aimed at getting you ready for on-site client work. With a wealth of online training resources, you can develop your strengths and grow your skills within one of our specialist areas – Digital & AI or People & Change. As your career progresses, you’ll have further opportunities to gain professional qualifications.

Travel and mobility
Our meetings don’t often happen in meeting rooms. We work hand-in-hand with clients on-site in the US, UK and globally, so that we can deliver the best possible results.
This means travel is a huge part of how we work and you should be comfortable travelling regularly as part of your role. Sometimes that can mean early starts and late finishes. Typically, you’ll travel Monday through Thursday and return home for the weekends to ensure you can maintain a positive work-life balance. Occasionally, some projects may include global travel or short- to medium-term relocation, depending on project needs.
Our Programs
We offer two routes into management consulting at Newton for students and recent graduates. If you’re in your senior year or have already graduated, you can apply to join us as an entry level Consultant. Choose a route to take a closer look.
