Days I’ll Remember
How each day gave me the opportunity to build connections and friendships.
Location: Newton Head Office, Kingston Bagpuize
“I was pretty nervous before my first day at Newton. I’d met one of the other grads on my induction at an offer holder day and we’d agreed to meet up in Oxford and get a taxi to Head Office together. It was great to walk in with someone I knew, but I didn’t need to be nervous anyway – everyone was super welcoming and I quickly made friends with the other inductees.”
Location: Multiple construction sites, Southeast England
“In my first month, I was asked to visit construction sites with electrical surveyors to understand the process customers go through when connecting their house or small business to the grid. It took a while to build the trust of the surveyor I was with, but during a van ride together we got to chatting about shared interests and life outside of work. From then on, he became a close ally who helped me build a better picture of the small connections process.”
Location: Italy
“One of the highlights of my first year at Newton was taking part in a Newton-organized trip to Italy. It was a great opportunity to get to know my colleagues better outside of work and spend time with my induction group.”
Location: On client site, Preston
“I worked with three different clients during my first six months at Newton. However, most of my time was spent with a defense manufacturer, where I went from process mapping and handing out work-to lists to running sessions with senior clients and helping to develop our approach to manufacturing across the site.
Best of all, I made genuine friends among my client counterparts. I remember spending the morning of my final day on site driving around the local area collecting cakes and snacks to bring into the office. I was sad to leave, but now – over six months later – I’m back on site again for the implementation phase.”
Location: An ice rink, Paddington, London
“Of the 40+ team events that I took part in over my first year at Newton (including laser tag, mini-golf, tenpin bowling and soccer), one of my favorites was trying out curling with my project team in London. We’d been inspired by the 2026 Winter Olympics and thought we’d try our hand. It wasn’t something I’d have done normally, but it turned out to be a brilliant night.”
“After nine months at Newton, you spend a week back in Head Office for ‘Consolidation’, undergoing further training and reflecting on your experience to date alongside the rest of your cohort. This was one of my favorite weeks at Newton – it’s a great chance to catch up with others who have been at the company for a similar amount of time and learn about what they’ve been working on.”
