“A project had just finished and I was taking time between projects. Some business development work was available, and within 3 days I had flown up to Edinburgh and was presenting to senior clients on our early findings. It was so exciting to be involved in selling work so early in my career; it felt very rewarding to know senior leadership trust me from the off. When I went for my evening run over the Forth bridge, I was reflecting on how lucky I felt to have such an exciting and interesting first job.”

“I was very nervous to be on my first implementation as it meant working closely with a small client team and leading my first workstream. When I got to the kick-off meeting with the client, their first comment was about how cool my socks were and how they expected me to keep up my sock game for the next 6 months. It may sound trivial, but I found it really reassuring and it made me very excited to spend a prolonged period of time solving complex problems with such a lovely client team.”

“It was a big day… my first ever program board. I had been on the project for 6 weeks, but being relatively new I hadn’t had any senior client meetings yet. I had prepared rigorously and believed in what I was saying. After 15 minutes that seemed like a blur, the client agreed with my analysis and said it had motivated them to make a change in area they hadn’t noticed before. I got back to the Airbnb and thought to myself, this is the most exciting job I can think of, where else would I be given this much responsibility so early on. Afterwards, I went on a very cathartic run up the moors.”
